The Company
On behalf of our client, an independent privately owned claims & risk specialist firm, we are looking for an Engineer (Mechanical/Civil) to join for Client’s offices in Nicosia and/or Limassol.
Position
The Engineer (Mechanical/Civil) is responsible for independently investigating, assessing, and reporting on insured losses on behalf of insurance companies, reinsurers, brokers, or other stakeholders. The role involves determining the cause, extent, and value of losses, ensuring compliance with policy terms, and producing accurate, timely, and impartial reports.

Duties & Responsibilities
Loss Investigation & Assessment
- Attend loss locations promptly to inspect and assess damage to property, equipment, or goods
- Identify the cause and circumstances of the loss and establish liability where applicable
- Collect and review all relevant documentation, including insurance policies, statements, invoices, repair estimates, photographs, and technical reports
- Liaise with insured parties, claimants, insurance companies, brokers, contractors, and legal representatives as required
Valuation & Reporting
- Evaluate the extent of damage and quantify losses based on market values, depreciation, policy terms, and conditions
- Prepare detailed interim and final loss reports, clearly outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations
- Ensure reports are accurate, well-structured, and submitted within agreed timeframes
- Provide professional opinions on coverage, liability, indemnity, and settlement values
Specialist & Technical Duties
- Handle various types of claims, including (but not limited to):
- Property damage (fire, flood, storm, theft, escape of water, subsidence, etc.)
- Public and employer’s liability claims
- Business interruption claims
- Marine cargo and hull claims (where applicable)
- Pre-risk and condition surveys, including PML assessments and risk improvement recommendations
- Coordinate with engineers, technicians, forensic experts, and other specialists when required
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain professional and impartial communication with all parties involved in the claim
- Explain technical findings and claim processes clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Respond to queries and requests for clarification from insurers and clients
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with insurance policy terms, professional standards, and applicable regulations
- Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards at all times
- Keep accurate records and case files for audit and reference purposes
Skills & Requirements
- University degree or professional qualification in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 2 years of experience in any field
- Fluency in Greek and English language
- Strong analytical and investigative skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prepare clear, detailed, and well-reasoned technical reports
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
- High level of integrity, objectivity, and attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Location
The position is for the offices of the Company in Nicosia and/or Limassol.
Field-based role with frequent site visits across Cyprus.
