Group Health and Safety Assistant
Job Description
Pafilia Property Developers Ltd is seeking to recruit a Group Health and Safety Assistant. The successful candidate will act as the full-time internal Deputy Health and Safety Officer of Pafilia Group, reporting to the Group Health and Safety Officer and assist the latter in all health and safety matters.
Location: Paphos/Limassol
Responsibilities:
Acts as the Deputy Health and Safety Officer of Pafilia Group and assist the Group Health & Safety Officer in all health and safety matters.
Ensures that all activities of the Group comply with the health and safety legislation.
Participates in the activities of each Safety Committee throughout the Group.
- Prepares risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
Engages in the implementation of the health and safety management system.
Monitors the implementation of the protective and preventive measures determined by the risk assessments and/or any other measures relating to safety and health matters.
Conducts regular inspections at the workplace to identify any risks that may arise from machinery, buildings, installations, devices, equipment, processes and dangerous or harmful factors, as well as from methods or systems of work.
Submits recommendations and suggestions for improving safety and health standards, including control measures and corrective actions to be taken to prevent accidents, occupational diseases and dangerous occurrences at the workplace.
Collects data, maintains records, and produces reports for any observations identified from inspections at the workplace.
Accompanies, where possible, the Inspector during inspections at the workplace, facilities and construction sites.
Organises or assists in organising training programmes (in-house or external) and provides training (induction, toolbox talks, etc.) to all Group employees at the workplace on safety and health matters.
Investigates, in cooperation with or with the assistance of the safety representatives, all accidents and dangerous occurrences taking place at the workplace.
Collects data regarding any incident, such as an accident and/or dangerous occurrence, affecting a person at work or any other person at a workplace.
Maintains a register of accidents and dangerous occurrences.
Prepares reports on all fatal or serious incidents relating to occupational accidents and/or dangerous occurrences.
Maintains and revises the health and safety file accordingly.
Cooperates with the head of departments, project managers, site engineers, foremen, supervisors, safety representatives, etc. to comply with the health and safety legislation.
Engages in activities for the protection and prevention of risks that exist or may arise at the workplace.
Necessary Requirements:
University degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or any other relevant field. University degree in environmental engineering/sciences will be considered an advantage
Accredited member of ETEK will be considered an advantage.
Qualified or partly qualified health and safety officer in accordance with the Department of Labour Inspection regulations.
Internationally recognised H&S certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) will be considered an advantage.
1–3 years of experience in a similar health & safety role.
Previous experience in the construction industry will be considered a strong advantage.
Good knowledge of Cyprus safety & health at work legislation and construction sites regulations.
Experience in preparing risk assessments and reviewing method statements.
Ability to conduct site inspections and support accident/incident investigations.
Strong report writing and documentation skills.
Excellent computer skills (MS office – word, excel, PowerPoint).
Fluency in Greek and English (written and spoken).
Strong communication and organisational skills.
