The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit, Science- and Technology-oriented Educational and Research Institution, based in Cyprus and governed by an acclaimed Board of Directors. The research agenda of the CyI is pursued at its five Research Centres, namely:
· The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Centre (CaSToRC)
· The Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Centre (STARC)
· The Energy Environment Water Research Centre (EEWRC)
· The Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C)
· The Science and Technology Driven Policy and Innovation Research Centre (STeDI-RC)
Considerable cross-centre interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s scientific ethos.
The Cyprus Institute invites applications for highly motivated professionals to apply for 1 position of Innovation Officer on a full-time basis (100% FTE) for its premises at the Nicosia Campus.
The successful candidate will support the Innovation Directorate across a range of strategic initiatives and projects, contributing to a diverse portfolio of activities spanning the entire innovation value chain. The individual will be actively involved in the daily operations of the Innovation Directorate and will collaborate with research teams across multiple projects, with a primary focus on HERIFORGE and DiGiNN.
As an Innovation Officer, the candidate will support:
· Support in identification and strategic design of implementation plans for Key Exploitable Results (KERs)
· Support the development of governance models and operational plans for Innovation Hubs
· Coordination with representatives of key economic sectors in Cyprus to identify and address barriers to digitalisation in alignment with the smart specialisation strategy of Cyprus
· Support in development of digital transformation plans for key economic sector at national level, considering the sectoral needs and opportunities
· Support long-term planning and policy-making to facilitate the implementation of the digital transformation roadmaps
A few words about the two primary projects in which the individual will be engaged:
HERIFORGE (Cultural Heritage and Immersive Technologies for Innovation Forge) is a Horizon Europe initiative that develops a network of interconnected research and innovation hubs in Poland, Cyprus, and Türkiye. The project focuses on advancing innovation in the cultural heritage and creative industries through the responsible use of extended reality (XR) technologies, digital cultural heritage assets, and cutting‑edge IT and digital humanities infrastructures. It follows a quadruple helix innovation model and delivers strategic tools, XR prototypes, and a shared Data Orchestration Platform to strengthen human‑centric and resilient innovation ecosystems.
DiGiNN is the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) of Cyprus, acting as a national “one stop shop” to accelerate the digital transformation of Cypriot SMEs and the public sector. Co funded by the European Union’s Digital Europe Programme and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy through national funds, DiGiNN offers a comprehensive suite of free services, including:
· “Test Before Invest” services in AI, High Performance Computing (HPC), and Cybersecurity
· Training services to upskill and reskill employees across industries
· Support to raise investment and create a digital innovation ecosystem
· Networking and collaboration opportunities
Position Specific Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business or Technical discipline, or in Physical Sciences or Engineering
· Ability to support research, innovation, or technology-driven projects.
· Ability to gather, analyse, and synthesize information for designing strategies relating to innovation initiatives.
· Basic knowledge of project management practices
· Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate technical or business needs into actionable tasks.
Additional Desirable Qualifications
· 2-year relevant professional experience in a technical or business environment will be considered as advantage
· Experience supporting innovation processes, technology evaluation, or research translation into real‑world applications.
· Experience in Innovation and Intellectual Property management
· Experience in designing and developing strategic plans for Research and Innovation activities.
· Exposure to proposal preparation, or research support activities.
· Familiarity with data analysis, prototyping tools, or innovation frameworks (e.g., Design Thinking, Lean Startup).
· Experience in a research institute, academic setting, or technology‑oriented organization.

Duration of appointment:
The initial period of the appointment will be for a duration of 24 months with the possibility of renewal, depending on performance and availability of funds.
Remuneration details:
Salary Band: CYI3(1-14)
Position’s Starting Salary: CYI3.1 - €30353.05
