Lab Technician (Biology/Chemistry)
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities are examples of a successful Lab Technician. However, these are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.
• Support the practical and technical aspects of the School’s Biology and Chemistry Science curriculum across Key Stages 3,4,5.
• Prepare, provide, maintain, organise, clear, clean and manage the resources required for healthy, safe and secure, exciting practical activities to be carried out by staff and students.
• Help teachers during the delivery of practical classes and/or with demonstrations.
• Stock control, ordering of chemicals, consumables, laboratory equipment & resources.
• Inventory checking, monitoring and controlling.
• Chemical waste disposal control and management.
• Working collaboratively and efficiently with the Physics lab technician to support all lab work and practical activities being undertaken within the Science Faculty and within school events such as open evenings, Science week and other such initiatives.
Requirements
• Degree in Chemistry or any other relevant degree from a recognized university.
• Experience working in school labs to fulfil the core practical work for the A-level and IGCSE specifications will be considered as an advantage.
• Be able to communicate effectively within a team
• Be a positive, kind, and caring person
• Good behaviour management skills
• Previous experience in a school setting will be considered as an advantage
Location
