LABORATORY SCIENTIFIC OFFICER

We are looking for a part-time (50%) Laboratory Scientific Officer (LSO) to join the Bioinformatics Department of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.
The Bioinformatics Department is active in research, education, and laboratory services, in line with the mission of CING. A key focus of the team is computational biology, Bioinformatics, and omics data analysis, with emphasis on infectious diseases, multi-omics integration, and in silico drug discovery.
JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will contribute to the EU HORIZON project REFINE (Receptor-Focused Interventions Against Orthoflavivirus Neuroinvasion and Entry).
The position is for 12 months with the possibility of extension and it is for immediate employment.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
- A University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Bioinformatics, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong command of the English language
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Strong problem-solving skills
The following will be considered as advantages:
- Experience in Linux/Unix and high-performance computing (HPC) environments
- Experience supporting bioinformatics or scientific computing workflows
Experience with research data management, FAIR principles, and technical reporting, in EU-funded projects
