Job Description

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI) is a Centre of Excellence for marine and maritime research, innovation and technology development and has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and matching funding from the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. The CMMI pulls together expertise from local universities, industry and international partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the activities of the Centre for Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering (NAOME) at the Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), including research, innovation, education, and the provision of technical services to industry and government organisations.
  • Support the design and engineering analysis of vessels and marine systems, including concept, preliminary design and performance assessment.
  • Contribute to vessel and marine system performance assessment and sustainability-oriented design support.
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the development of design-driven and analytical solutions for marine and offshore applications.
  •  Contribute to design studies, engineering analyses and technical documentation.
  • Support vessel and marine system design activities using established and emerging digital engineering tools and methodologies.

Requirements:

  • BSc in Naval Architecture or a closely related discipline.
  • MSc and/or PhD in Naval Architecture, or a related field (advantageous).
  • Knowledge of commercial software tools used for vessel and offshore design and analysis.
  • Experience in concept design, technical drawings and design documentation for new builds and/or retrofits.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language (written and verbal).
  • Experience with CFD and numerical hydrodynamic analysis for vessel design (advantageous).
  • Experience with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies and tools (advantageous).
  • Experience in proposal writing and a proven successful track record in attracting external funding (advantageous).

  • Strong analytical and integrative thinking.

  • Strong organisational and teamwork skills.

  • Strong written, oral, graphical, and digital presentation skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and plan personal workload effectively.

  • Ability to solve problems creatively.

  • An EU work permit will be considered an advantage.
