Research Support Unit (RESU)
Job Purpose
The Policy & Projects Officer will support the implementation and strategic development of projects with a strong governance and science-to-policy dimension across the Mediterranean region. The role combines project coordination, policy engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and funding development activities, contributing to the effective delivery, impact, and long-term sustainability of the organisation’s portfolio.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support the coordination and implementation of multi-partner projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, deliverables, and governance frameworks
Contribute to project monitoring, reporting, and performance tracking across activities at Mediterranean scale
Facilitate communication and coordination among project partners, stakeholders, and external collaborators
Ensure compliance with project requirements, including administrative and operational procedures
Support the organisation and delivery of meetings, workshops, consultations, and stakeholder engagement activities
Identify and monitor relevant EU and international funding opportunities
Support the preparation and submission of project proposals, including partner coordination and content development
Contribute to the development of follow-up activities and sustainability strategies to maximise project impact and long-term value
Assist in dissemination, exploitation, communication, and scaling-up activities related to project results
Support the translation of research findings and project outputs into policy-relevant insights and recommendations
Contribute to the preparation of policy briefs, reports, strategic documents, and stakeholder materials
Engage with policy and institutional stakeholders to support uptake and visibility of project outcomes
Assist in aligning organisational activities with European and regional policy frameworks and priorities
Ensure compliance with internal procedures, ethical standards, data protection requirements, and health & safety regulations
Report to the Head of Unit or designated supervisor
Minimum Eligibility Criteria (Required Qualifications)
University degree in political science, international relations, environmental studies, European studies, project management, or a related field
Experience in EU-funded projects and/or policy-related roles
Strong organisational and project coordination skills
Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication abilities
Ability to work effectively in an international and multidisciplinary environment
Fluency in English
Desirable Qualifications
Experience working with Mediterranean or international cooperation initiatives
Experience in proposal writing and funding development activities
Familiarity with European policy frameworks and governance processes
Knowledge of dissemination, exploitation, and stakeholder engagement activities
Additional European or Mediterranean language(s)
Experience working within multicultural and multidisciplinary environments
