JOB PURPOSE
The Regional Security Advisor supports the MEER Regional Security Director in strengthening security risk management across National Offices. The role ensures implementation of security directives, builds country-level capacity, and provides technical guidance, operational support, and training to enhance resilience. It also advises on emerging risks, supports incident reviews, risk assessments, and crisis response, while promoting consistent security standards and coordination across the region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Support: Provide expert advice to the Regional Security Director and Country Security Managers on security risk management. Support Core Security Requirements implementation, After-Action Reviews, investigations, and contribute to SSR projects.
Operational Support: Assist with Security Risk Assessments, country risk ratings, crisis management, and investigations. Offer surge capacity to offices when needed and oversee security service providers to ensure compliance with WV standards.
Capacity Building: Develop security capability across National Offices through training, mentoring, and resource sharing. Coordinate delivery of core security programs and maintain training records.
Knowledge Management: Monitor compliance with security standards and Core Security Requirements. Prepare reports, analyze incidents, and share security information to enable informed decisions.
Quality Assurance: Ensure consistent application of the Security Risk Management Framework. Review compliance, promote continuous improvement, and embed a strong security culture.
Internal & External Liaison & Coordination: Engage with NGO security networks, build external relationships, and share information. Collaborate with SSR and regional forums to strengthen coordination and learning.
General: Provide other support to regional office and SSR as determined.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Risk Management, International Relations, Emergency Management, or related field.
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in security, resilience, business continuity, NGO, or UN at international level.
· Prior experience in security (INGO, corporate, military, law enforcement, or emergency services).
· Strong communication, networking, and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-culturally.
· Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of INGO security practices, risk assessments, and planning in humanitarian contexts.
· Ability to work under pressure and across time zones with virtual teams.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· High integrity, sound judgment, and strong time management skills.
Language Requirements: Excellent English (spoken and written); Arabic or other MEER languages preferred.
Travel and Work Environment: Hybrid work setup (office + home). Willingness to travel up to 30%, including high-risk locations on short notice.
