About Company
American Academy Larnaca
The American Academy Larnaca (School) is owned by the American Academy Alumni Foundation.
It is a private, selective, non-sectarian, co-educational, independent school, approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture and licensed in accordance to the Private Schools Law 1971.
The Academy motto “to grow and to serve” underlies the philosophy of the Academy. It is the hallmark of the culture and ethos of the Academy referred to as “the Academy spirit”. This is characterized by a democratic and positive climate, respect for each other, understanding and co-operation between students and staff in addition to involvement in humanitarian, social, cultural and other activities for the welfare of our Academy community and the wider community of which we are a part.
The vision of the Academy incorporates this and more. It strives to become the most successful forward-looking school in Cyprus and beyond by promoting:
a ‘spirit’ characterised by meaningful and lasting relationships,
a strong sense of justice and service to others;
being innovative and distinctive;
reflecting the best educational practice leading to world-wide recognised qualifications;
preparing students to become successful and effective learners and citizens of the 21st Century;
attracting the most able students selected by ability tests;
helping students to achieve their dreams in their ‘Academy’ education and beyond.
All this is based on a guiding set of Christian principles.
The American Academy’s mission is to be true to our ideal: - to grow and to serve. Our graduates will have the vision, knowledge and skills to enable them to be leading citizens and lifelong learners who respond to the needs of their families and communities in a spirit of tolerance:
To develop positive attitudes to learning through world class motivational teaching which engenders self-belief.
To be at the forefront of educational development as a learning organisation which enables all students to become independent learners appreciating the significance of life-long learning.
To have a positive and blame free environment which encourages co-operation and which focuses on success and enables our students to become positive, responsible clear thinking and caring adults.
To appreciate the learning needs and styles of individual students and to provide a stimulating and forward looking curriculum which encourages every student to understand the world around them and to reach for the stars.
To encourage and enable students to develop those personal qualities which lead them to have self-respect, respect for others and for their environment.
