Ο Μηχανικός Τεχνικών Λειτουργιών (Technical Operations Engineer) είναι υπεύθυνος για τη διασφάλιση της συνεχούς αξιοπιστίας, διαθεσιμότητας και απόδοσης των web εφαρμογών και της υποδομής τους. Ως κρίσιμο σημείο κλιμάκωσης από την υποστήριξη επιπέδου L1, ο ρόλος καλύπτει προληπτική παρακολούθηση, διαχείριση περιστατικών, αυτοματοποίηση και συνεργασία μεταξύ ομάδων — αποτελώντας τον επιχειρησιακό πυρήνα του οργανισμού μηχανικής.

Σε στενή συνεργασία με την ομάδα DevOps και ανάπτυξης λογισμικού, ο Tech Ops Engineer συμβάλλει ενεργά στην ενίσχυση των επιχειρησιακών πρακτικών, προωθώντας βελτιώσεις στην παρατηρησιμότητα (observability), την σταθερότητα των συστημάτων και την μακροπρόθεσμη αξιοπιστία της πλατφόρμας.

Κύριες Αρμοδιότητες

• Παρακολούθηση και διαχείριση των web εφαρμογών και της υποδομής, συμπεριλαμβανομένων application servers, βάσεων δεδομένων και ενσωματωμένων εργαλείων.
• Διαχείριση περιστατικών παραγωγής (production incidents) που κλιμακώνονται από την υποστήριξη L1 και συμβολή στην επίλυση μέτριας έως υψηλής σοβαρότητας προβλημάτων.
• Εντοπισμός και επίλυση προβλημάτων εφαρμογών και υποδομών χρησιμοποιώντας logs, metrics και διαγνωστικά συστήματος.
• Συντήρηση, ρύθμιση και βελτίωση δυνατοτήτων monitoring, alerting και observability σε συνεργασία με την ομάδα DevOps.
• Εφαρμογή και έλεγχος αλλαγών παραμετροποίησης σε:
  • Application servers
  • Βάσεις δεδομένων
  • CRM και άλλες εφαρμογές
• Συμμετοχή σε ανάλυση αιτίας (Root Cause Analysis – RCA) για επαναλαμβανόμενα ή σημαντικά περιστατικά και υποστήριξη διορθωτικών και προληπτικών ενεργειών.
• Υποστήριξη πρωτοβουλιών αυτοματοποίησης και λύσεων για μείωση χειροκίνητης εργασίας.
• Συνεργασία με ομάδες ανάπτυξης λογισμικού, υποδομών και ασφάλειας κατά την επίλυση περιστατικών και αναβαθμίσεων στο σύστημα.
• Υποστήριξη αλλαγών και αναβαθμίσεων και αλλαγών υποδομής βάσει διαδικασιών change management.
• Επικοινωνία με εξωτερικούς συνεργάτες εργαλείων κατά τη διάρκεια διακοπών ή κλιμακώσεων (ειδικά για CRM/enterprise εφαρμογές).
• Συμμετοχή σε on-call βάρδιες και τήρηση διαδικασιών αντιμετώπισης περιστατικών.
• Συντήρηση και ενημέρωση επιχειρησιακής τεκμηρίωσης (documentation).
• Υποστήριξη συστημάτων backup (όχι απαραίτητα σχεδιασμός τους).
• Περιστασιακή εργασία εκτός ωραρίου για συντήρηση και αναβάθμιση.
• Διασφάλιση ότι τα περιβάλλοντα λειτουργούν ομαλά, είναι version-controlled και ευθυγραμμισμένα μεταξύ ανάπτυξης (Staging), Sandbox και Live.
• Συντήρηση και υποστήριξη CI/CD pipelines που έχουν σχεδιαστεί από την ομάδα DevOps, διασφαλίζοντας την ομαλή λειτουργία τους και αναφέροντας προβλήματα ή ανάγκες βελτίωσης.
• Βελτίωση της συχνότητας και αξιοπιστίας των deployments μέσω αυτοματοποίησης και βελτιστοποίησης pipelines.
• Λειτουργία και παρακολούθηση cloud υποδομών στο AWS, όπως έχουν σχεδιαστεί και διατεθεί από την ομάδα DevOps, διασφαλίζοντας ότι οι πόροι είναι υγιείς, διαθέσιμοι και ευθυγραμμισμένοι με τις επιχειρησιακές ανάγκες.

Δεξιότητες & Εμπειρία

• Πτυχίο BSc/MSc στην Πληροφορική ή συναφές αντικείμενο.
• 2+ χρόνια σχετικής επαγγελματικής εμπειρίας.
• Εμπειρία υποστήριξης web εφαρμογών σε παραγωγικό περιβάλλον.
• Καλή γνώση servers, βάσεων δεδομένων και αρχιτεκτονικής εφαρμογών.
• Πρακτική εμπειρία σε cloud πλατφόρμες, ιδιαίτερα AWS, και εξοικείωση με σύγχρονα monitoring εργαλεία (π.χ. Grafana, Prometheus).
• Ισχυρές δεξιότητες troubleshooting και διαχείρισης περιστατικών.
• Εξοικείωση με DevOps πρακτικές και CI/CD pipelines· βασική κατανόηση Infrastructure as Code (IaC) επαρκής για λειτουργία και υποστήριξη υποδομών που διαχειρίζεται η ομάδα DevOps.
• Εμπειρία ή έκθεση σε αυτοματοποίηση και scripting.
• Ισχυρές αναλυτικές δεξιότητες, καθώς και δεξιότητες τεκμηρίωσης και επικοινωνίας.

Role Summary

The Technical Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring the continuous reliability, availability, and performance of web applications and their underlying infrastructure. Acting as a critical escalation point from L1 support, the role spans proactive monitoring, incident ownership, automation, and cross-functional collaboration — forming the operational backbone of the engineering organization.

Working in close collaboration with DevOps and engineering teams, the Tech Ops Engineer plays an active part in strengthening operational practices — driving improvements in observability, system stability, and long-term reliability across the platform.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage the health of web applications and infrastructure, including application servers, databases and integrated tools.
• Handle production incidents escalated from L1 support and contribute to the resolution of medium to high-severity issues.
• Troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues using logs, metrics and system diagnostics.
• Maintain, configure and improve monitoring, alerting and observability capabilities in collaboration with DevOps teams.
• Apply and validate configuration changes across:
  • Application servers
  • Databases
  • CRM and enterprise applications
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring or significant incidents and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Support automation initiatives and self-healing solutions to reduce manual operational effort.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure and security teams during incident resolution and production changes.
• Support production releases, patches, upgrades and infrastructure changes following change management processes.
• Liaising with external tool vendors during outages or escalations (especially relevant given CRM/enterprise apps are mentioned)
• Proactively flagging resource constraints before they cause incidents
• Participate in on-call rotations and follow established incident response procedures.
• Maintain and update operational documentation.
• Backup systems knowledge (not necessarily designing them).
• Working occasionally outside hours for maintenance.
• Ensure environments are running smoothly, version-controlled and aligned across development (staging), sandbox and production.
• Maintain and support CI/CD pipelines built and designed by the DevOps team, ensuring they operate reliably and flagging issues or improvement needs.
• Improve deployment frequency and reliability through automation and pipeline optimization.
• Operate and monitor cloud infrastructure on AWS as provisioned and architected by the DevOps team, ensuring resources remain healthy, available and aligned with operational requirements.

Skills & Experience

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, or a similar
• 2+ years of relevant experience
• Experience supporting web applications in production environments.
• Working knowledge of servers, databases and application architectures.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and familiarity with modern monitoring stacks (e.g. Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines; basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts sufficient to operate and support DevOps-managed infrastructure.
• Exposure to automation and scripting.
• Strong analytical, documentation and communication skills.
