Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee VAT compliance for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely preparation and submission of VAT returns and related filings.
- Maintain responsibility for accounting work for a portfolio of clients, including reviewing bookkeeping, reconciliations, and ensuring alignment between accounting records and VAT reporting.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients on VAT compliance matters, handling queries and providing practical guidance on day-to-day VAT issues.
- Review and ensure the correct VAT treatment within financial records, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Liaise with VAT authorities on compliance matters, including queries, audits, and submissions, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to local VAT regulations and deadlines, minimizing compliance risks for clients.
- Support clients with VAT registrations, deregistrations, and ongoing compliance obligations.
- Assist with basic VAT advisory where required, particularly in relation to transactions and routine business activities.
- Conduct periodic VAT checks and reconciliations as part of the accounting review process.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency between accounting, tax, and VAT reporting.
- Monitor legislative changes in VAT and communicate relevant updates to clients and internally.
- Provide guidance and support to team members on VAT matters, reviewing relevant areas and ensuring quality and accuracy.
Candidate Profile
- Degree Graduate in Accounting, Tax, Finance, Law, Economics, or related field.
- ACCA/ACA/CPA member
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong experience managing communications with Tax/VAT authorities.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Greek.
- Strong business awareness and high ethical standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical judgment skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and professional skills.
- Team-oriented with a strong commitment to professional and client service excellence.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office programs
