CareerFinders, on behalf of our client, an established independent investment firm, offering clients unbiased and intelligent investment strategies, we are seeking to recruit a Head of Compliance & AMLCO to join their growing team based in Limassol. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and international environment, and will play a key role in strengthening and overseeing the compliance, AML/CFT and governance framework of the Group’s Cyprus AIFM and support wider Group compliance initiatives across multiple jurisdictions. You will need to possess 5+ years of relevant experience in compliance and AML functions within the fund management, asset management, wealth management, or financial services industry, and hold both the CySEC AML & Advanced certifications. Fluency in English is essential, with any knowledge of Greek and/or Russian considered an advantage. An attractive remuneration and benefits package is on offer, based on skills and experience.

 

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory, legislative, and licensing requirements, including CySEC, AML/CFT and AIFMD obligations.
• Liaise with business units, Group entities, regulators, and relevant authorities.
• Maintain and assess the effectiveness of compliance policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
• Prepare and submit regulatory filings, reports, and notifications within required deadlines.
• Monitor regulatory developments, sanctions, and restriction lists, implementing necessary updates.
• Participate in governance, Risk & Compliance Committees, and regulatory reviews.
• Review marketing materials from a compliance perspective and oversee capital adequacy obligations.
• Act as the AIFM’s AML Compliance Officer (AMLCO).
• Oversee and maintain the AML/CFT framework for the AIFM and managed funds.
• Conduct and supervise KYC/CDD onboarding, ongoing monitoring, and risk-based client classification.
• Monitor suspicious activity and staff transactions, and manage reporting and escalation processes.
• Serve as the primary contact with MOKAS and other authorities on AML matters.
• Deliver AML/CFT training and ensure timely submission of required AML reports.
• Develop, maintain, and update compliance, AML and operational policies, manuals, and procedures.
• Oversee policies relating to conflicts of interest, personal transactions, GDPR and other regulatory requirements.
• Assess delegated functions and outsourced service providers.
• Implement compliance monitoring programmes, internal controls, and remediation measures.
• Support Group entities across multiple jurisdictions on compliance and AML/CFT matters.
• Coordinate with regulators, legal advisers, and consultants on cross-border regulatory initiatives.
• Assist with the establishment of new regulated entities, funds, and international operations.
• Promote Group-wide consistency in compliance frameworks, governance, and onboarding standards.
• Support regulatory inspections, audits, and remediation projects.
• Provide strategic compliance and regulatory guidance to senior management and Boards.

 

Key Skills/Experience: 

• University degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in compliance and AML functions within the fund management, asset management, wealth management, or financial services industry.
• Holder of the CySEC Advanced Certificate (mandatory).
• Holder of the CySEC AML Certificate (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of CySEC regulations, AIFMD framework, AML legislation, and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Experience dealing directly with regulators and external service providers.
• Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within an international and fast-paced environment.
• Fluent written and spoken English required. Greek and/or Russian would be considered an advantage.
