Job Description

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant / Payroll Officer to join our team in the DIY retail sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the company's accounting operations, payroll processing, financial reporting, and day-to-day administrative activities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Handle day-to-day accounting transactions and maintain accurate financial records using the E-Soft accounting system.
Perform bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and payment follow-ups.
Communicate and liaise with suppliers regarding invoices, payments, account balances, and outstanding issues.
Prepare regular financial reports, management reports, and other accounting summaries as required.
Assist with month-end closing procedures, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with applicable tax and Social Insurance regulations.
Maintain accurate employee and payroll records and assist with payroll-related declarations and submissions.
Monitor outstanding balances and support the timely settlement of supplier accounts.
Assist with VAT returns, tax documentation, and other statutory reporting requirements.
Maintain proper filing and documentation of accounting and payroll records.
Work closely with management and other departments to ensure smooth financial and administrative operations.

Requirements

Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, and/or payroll processing.
Good working knowledge of the E-Soft accounting system.
Experience in bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when dealing with suppliers.
Good knowledge of accounting principles, VAT, payroll procedures, and relevant statutory requirements.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize deadlines, and work independently.
Good command of Greek and English, both written and spoken.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Education and Experience

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field will be considered an advantage.
Previous experience in a similar accounting or payroll position is preferred.
