Symeonides Fashion House Ltd a leading company in the retail industry seeks to recruit a Chief Accountant / Senior Accountant for its Head Office in Nicosia. The successful candidate will support the CFO in managing the day‑to‑day accounting, VAT, tax, and banking operations for the M&S franchise in Cyprus and Romania. The role ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting, strong controls, and full compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Maintain accurate general ledger and ensure timely month‑end close.
Prepare and review management accounts, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Manage intercompany transactions, accruals, and balance sheet integrity.
Support preparation of statutory accounts under IFRS.
VAT, Tax & Compliance
Prepare and submit VAT returns, VIES, and other indirect tax filings.
Support corporate tax computations and liaise with external tax advisors.
Ensure compliance with local accounting and tax regulations.
Banking & Treasury Support
Perform bank reconciliations, monitor cash balances, and prepare cash flow inputs.
Process supplier payments and maintain banking documentation.
Support the CFO with treasury reporting and working capital analysis.
Controls & Audit
Maintain strong internal controls, including approvals, reconciliations, and documentation.
Prepare audit files and act as the main contact for external auditors.
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
5+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA) or in progress is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, VAT, and tax compliance.
Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
Skills & Attributes
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Retail experience is an advantage but not required.
