Civil Engineer (Project Manager) (Ref: 537)

The Client

A well-established local Group of Companies with activities in Real Estate.

Responsibilities

An excellent opportunity for a talented Civil Engineer with Project Management specific experience. The successful candidate will manage the development of new projects, renovations, restorations, and repairs, to manage the administration and coordination of the Civil & Building projects as ordered by the Technical Manager, as well as to provide management services for all parts of the project lifecycle, from inception to completion. Main responsibilities include:

• Initiate and develop the brief in cooperation with the Technical Manager and the Board of Directors
• Appoint the Management team and the design team in liaison with the Technical Manager 
• Monitor the planning and design process
• Organise Value Engineering workshops to target the best possible design options that will meet or exceed set criteria 
• Coordinate the preparation of planning and/or building applications and negotiate with Local Authority planners to obtain planning permissions in cooperation with the appropriate consultant
• Monitor the tendering procedures
• Advise the design team on construction strategy and contract 
• Organize and evaluate the construction tenders in cooperation with the appropriate consultant and the Technical Manager 
• Negotiate best possible prices for individual projects

Construction Stage

• Follow the progress, control cost & quality and ensure compliance with the approved Project Programme and budget in cooperation with the design team and/or 3rd party Consultant 
• Monitor project expenditures to ensure compliance with the approved budget     

Handover / Completion
 

• Negotiate the final account in cooperation with the appropriate consultant
• Evaluate and negotiate claims (Settlement of construction claims) in cooperation with the appropriate consultant 

Profile of the ideal candidate

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Master's degree or other Project Management qualification will be considered an advantage
• At least 8 year's experience as a Civil Engineer, with at least 3-5 years experience as a Project Manager in building and civil engineering projects
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting, manage priorities, and meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Very good knowledge of both Greek and English.
