Position Title: Education Officer (Full-time)
Position Details
This is a full-time role, based in Nicosia, Cyprus. The position can start anytime between May and the first week of June 2026, depending on the availability of the selected candidate and the organization’s needs.
Salary
€1,500 – €1,680 (gross) plus 13th salary
Role and Responsibilities
The Education Officer will support the implementation and delivery of GFC’s language education programs and educational activities for migrants and refugees, working under the coordination and guidance of the Education Manager.
1) Teaching & Program Delivery
- Deliver Greek and/or English language classes in non-formal education settings, both in-person and online, to migrant and refugee teenagers and adults.
- Adapt teaching approaches to diverse learner needs, ensuring inclusive and learner-centered practices.
- Support student engagement, progress monitoring, and classroom management.
2) Program Support, Training & EU Project Contribution
- Support the Education Manager in coordinating language programs and contributing to EU and internationally funded education projects.
- Assist in the development and adaptation of educational materials (e.g., lesson plans, toolkits, and resources), and contribute to basic research, reporting, and documentation.
- Support the organization and delivery of workshops, training sessions, and non-formal educational activities for educators, volunteers, and stakeholders.
3) Team Support & Capacity Building
- Assist in the onboarding, coordination, and day-to-day support of educators, volunteers, and peer facilitators.
- Contribute to maintaining quality teaching standards through collaboration, feedback, and basic pedagogical support.
4) Stakeholder Engagement & Outreach
- Support outreach and engagement with NGOs, schools, universities, and community groups for participant recruitment and program visibility.
- Contribute to GFC’s representation in education-related activities, events, and community initiatives when needed.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, or a related field.
- Experience in teaching Greek and/or English, preferably in non-formal education settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse groups, including migrants and refugees.
- Commitment to inclusion, intercultural understanding, and anti-racism.
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Teaching Greek/English as a Second Language or a related field is considered an asset.
- Experience working with migrant or refugee communities.
- Familiarity with non-formal education approaches and learner-centered methodologies.
- Fluency in English and Greek; knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Arabic or French) is an asset.
- Basic experience with digital tools for teaching and communication.
Benefits and Compensation
GFC offers a salary and benefits package compliant with Cypriot labor law. The package includes a gross monthly salary of €1,500-€1,680, a 13th salary, and opportunities for professional development within EU-funded and international projects.
The contract will have a duration of one year, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and organizational needs.
