Role Description
The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations and ensuring that the company's financial systems are robust, compliant, and support current activities and future growth plans.
This role will also be responsible for developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives. The role may also include other ad hoc requirements based on the group's activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans to support business objectives.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts and provide regular reports to the management team.
- Provide financial analysis and advice to the management team to supporting decision-making.
- Prepare and present financial statements and reports to stakeholders, including the Board of Directors and external auditors.
- Manage the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors and other stakeholders as required.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that financial information is accurate, timely, and relevant to support business decisions.
- Any other ad hoc tasks the management may require in order to adapt with the evolving business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
- Professional accounting qualification preferred.
- Previous experience in the shipping industry is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles and practices.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience in managing audit processes and understanding procedures with external auditors.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Greek, written and spoken.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
