IT Specialist (Hotel Operations)
Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on IT Specialist to own and maintain the technology infrastructure of our hotel. You will be the go-to person for everything from network reliability and cybersecurity to point-of-sale systems and guest-facing technology. This is a varied, practical role where no two days are the same.
Requirements
Experience
• 2 years of professional experience in an IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure role preferred.
• Prior experience in hospitality or hotel environments is a plus but not required.
• Demonstrable personal interest in technology — side projects, home labs, certifications, open-source contributions, or similar evidence of genuine curiosity will strengthen your application.
Preferred Skills
• Solid working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, subnetting, and routing.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting managed switches, routers, and wireless access points.
• Practical knowledge of firewalls, ACLs, and network segmentation.
• Experience with access control systems, user permissions, and role-based access.
• Familiarity with audit logging, intrusion detection/prevention, and endpoint protection.
• Understanding of Mobile Device Management (MDM) and IP device monitoring (CCTV, IoT).
• Awareness of data privacy regulations and secure handling of data.
• Comfortable working with virtual machines and hypervisors (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, or similar).
• Knowledge of database administration basics (SQL, backups, integrity checks).
• Strong understanding of backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux server environments.
• Experience supporting end-user hardware: printers, workstations, VoIP phones, digital signage.
• Basic knowledge of VoIP / IP-PBX telephone systems.
• Familiarity with conference room AV setups and in-room entertainment systems is a plus..
Soft Skills
• Clear communicator — able to explain complex technical topics to non-technical colleagues and management in plain, patient language.
• Team player — comfortable working across departments (front desk, housekeeping, F&B, management) and adapting to their needs.
• Problem solver — calm under pressure, especially during high-occupancy periods when systems must stay running.
• Self-starter — able to prioritise tasks independently, manage vendor relationships, and drive small improvement projects without constant supervision.
• Documentation-minded — willing to maintain clear records of configurations, procedures, and inventory.
• Multilingual ability — (Fluent English required; Greek also preferred; additional languages are a bonus).
Nice to Have
• Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+, Cisco CCNA, ITIL, or equivalent).
• Experience with hospitality-specific platforms (Opera PMS, Micros PoS, or similar).
• Working knowledge of structured cabling and basic low-voltage infrastructure.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
• Any experience with scripting or automation (Bash, Python) to streamline routine tasks is valued
What We Offer
• A dynamic work environment at the intersection of hospitality and technology.
• The opportunity to shape and improve the hotel’s IT infrastructure.
• To develop and grow into more senior roles over time.
• Competitive salary and benefits package.
