Job Title: Junior Sommelier

Department: Food & Beverage – Front of House

Reports To: Assistant Beverage Manager
 

Job Profile:

Ararat Grand Residences is seeking a passionate and service-driven Junior Sommelier to join our luxury hospitality team. The Junior Sommelier will support the wine service team in delivering exceptional guest experiences, assisting with wine recommendations, service, and cellar operations, while developing strong knowledge of wines, pairings, and luxury service standards.

Job Description

• Assist in wine service, including preparation, presentation, and service of wines and beverages
• Support the Sommelier in recommending wine and food pairings to enhance guest experience
• Assist with cellar organization, stock control, and proper storage of wines
• Help maintain accurate inventory records and report stock levels
• Support guests in wine selection by providing basic knowledge and recommendations
• Assist in maintaining and updating the wine list under supervision
• Ensure proper glassware preparation, wine service standards, and mise en place
• Support training activities and learn from senior sommeliers and service team
• Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and service standards at all times

 Person Specification

• Previous experience in Food & Beverage or restaurant service (fine dining is an advantage)
• Basic knowledge of wines, grape varieties, and service principles
• WSET Level 1 or 2 (or willingness to pursue certification) is an advantage
• Strong willingness to learn and develop within wine service
• Excellent communication and guest service skills
• Team-oriented with a positive and professional attitude
• Attention to detail and passion for hospitality
• Ability to work in a fast-paced luxury environment
