Social Media & Community Manager
The Duran is seeking a highly organized, creative, and motivated individual to join our team as a
Social Media & Community Manager to grow The Duran’s global audience and online subscriber communities across our social media platforms. This is an office-based position for someone who understands independent media, digital audience growth, subscriber engagement, and community building.
About The Duran
The Duran is an independent digital media platform covering geopolitics, world affairs, economics, and international news from a perspective outside mainstream corporate media narratives. Through analysis, commentary, interviews, podcasts, video content, and online discussion, The Duran has built a global audience that values free speech, critical thinking, open debate, and independent journalism.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coordinate, and grow The Duran’s online communities and subscriber base, with particular focus on Locals and Substack.
- Develop strategies to increase audience engagement, memberships, subscriptions, and community retention across all platforms.
- Create, edit, schedule, and publish content across digital and social media channels.
- Write social media posts, headlines, promotional copy, newsletters, and subscriber updates aligned with The Duran’s editorial voice.
- Grow audience engagement across and platform reach across social media platforms (X, Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, YouTube, Locals, Substack).
- Implement, and manage newsletters, subscriber campaigns, community posts, and promotional campaigns.
- Communicate and engage directly with members, subscribers, supporters, and online communities.
- Develop and implement social media, marketing, and community growth strategies to expand The Duran brand and audience reach.
- Collaborate with content creators, editors, contributors, and production teams to promote content and maximize audience growth.
- Oversee the day-to-day administrative and community management operations.
Required Skills
- Excellent writing, editing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of geopolitics, international affairs, current events, and independent media.
- Proven experience managing and growing social media platforms and online communities.
- Direct experience managing subscriber-based platforms, particularly Locals and Substack.
- Strong understanding of audience growth, engagement, retention, and digital community-building strategies.
- Experience creating newsletters, subscriber campaigns, promotional content, and community updates.
- Ability to create, schedule, and manage content across social media platforms.
- Familiarity with Locals, Substack, WordPress, SEO, Canva, email marketing, and digital publishing tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
